Using an adaptation of words spoken by Vice President-elect and member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated Kamala Harris, this year's theme is about centering the voices of marginalized and minoritized people in the fraternity and sorority system. The CGLC Educational Programs Committee welcomes program submissions that emphasize the need to create inclusive spaces within our organizations.

The committee hopes to create a month full of impactful and engaging sessions, that all tie back to the theme. Below you will find the Educational Programs Committee's conceptualization of the programs.

Asynchronous Presentation: The goal of the asynchronous session is to serve as a resource for students that they can engage with at their own pace. Presenters for these sessions should prioritize clear explanations, visual aids, and opportunities for self-reflection.

Synchronous Educational Workshop: The goal of the synchronous educational workshop is to provide students with a space to learn new content, engage with others, and reflect on their own experiences. Synchronous workshop presenters should prioritize student participation, interaction, and clear takeaways.

Conference Learning Circles (CLC): The goal of the conference learning circle is for attendees to engage around a specific topic informally with the facilitator guiding the discussion. CLC facilitators should provide several prompts and one short article that can be read in the first ten minutes of the session.

Program Proposals MUST be aligned with the conference learning outcomes:

By participating in the conference, attendees will:

  • Learn how to work with campus administration and inter/national organization leadership to address current issues

  • Build community with other students from NALFO/NAPA/NMGC/NPHC organizations

  • Assess issues of inequity and exclusion in the fraternity/sorority system and develop goals to create more inclusive environments

  • Find relevance in current campus environments and learn new marketing strategies to enhance the recruitment of new members

All programs geared toward undergraduate students should be 50 minutes in length. Slide decks and any handouts must be sent to the Educational Programs Committee prior to the conference for review and to assist with building the CGLC Resource Library. More information will be provided to selected presenters.

DEADLINES:

Program proposals will be accepted on a rolling basis until Friday, March 12th, 2021. The priority deadline for proposals is January 15th, 2021, and presenters will be notified of their acceptance by February 1st, 2021. Presenters who submit proposals after January 15th will be notified in the order of receipt beginning on February 2nd, 2021.

If you have any questions, please direct them to us at cglcnj@gmail.com. Good luck with your submission, and again, thank you for your support of CGLC!
